FINANCIAL CONTROLLER (1.0 WTE)
Reporting to the CEO, the Financial Controller will will be responsible for the overall management of the Finance Department at the Galway Hospice Foundation.
The post holder will be responsible for a broad remit of financial, regulatory & compliance management
Candidates must meet the following criteria:
• Be a fully qualified Accountant and hold accreditation with ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA, MAAT, MIATI or equivalent, and be a member of their accounting professional body.
• A 3rd level degree, QQI Level 8 or above in Finance, Accounting, or a related field, with evidence of
recent Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
• A minimum five to seven years post qualification experience in a Finance Department with a proven track record in people management;
• A strong background in financial reporting, compliance, problem solving, and process improvement.
• An experienced track record of analysing data to make recommendations on financial and
organisational strategy.
• Ability to lead and develop the finance and procurement departments, currently a small team of 4 FTE staff, and work as a part of a team, specialising in various areas of financial and procurement roles.
• Experience of using, and ideally implementing, financial operating systems
• Advanced level proficiency in Microsoft Excel and a good understanding and intermediate level
proficiency in all other Microsoft packages.
• Strong interpersonal, presentation and communications skills
• A very high standard of personal integrity.
• An appreciation of the Hospice’s vision, purpose and values.
