If you know Galway, there’s a fair chance you know me. I’m the street artist who has spent years on the streets of the city letting people pay what they can afford for my work.
Now I’m the one asking Galway for a little help.
Our landlord is selling the home where my wife, our two children and I have lived for over a decade. He has been a wonderful landlord, he wanted to sell it years ago, but held off due to my cancer (beat it) we leave on genuinely good terms, and I don’t begrudge him selling for a second. We’ve treated his house like our own because for all those years, it was.
We are looking for a long-term home in Galway and are on HAP. I’m an artist rather than a property tycoon — a questionable financial decision in hindsight but I’ve always believed more in people than possessions, and I still do.
We are a quiet, decent family with a long record as good tenants. If someone gives us a home, I intend to look after it for many years. You may also discover that having an artist for a tenant means you have an artist at your disposal and, if my last tenancy is anything to go by, hopefully a good friend too.
I’ve spent years trusting Galway. Right now, I’m hoping Galway might trust us back.
