The Galway Hospice Foundation has a long history of providing high quality specialist palliative care services throughout Galway. As part of the ongoing development of regional palliative care services, the Mayo Hospice facility was opened in March 2021 and provides specialist palliative inpatient care to the population of Mayo in the newly opened 14-bed inpatient unit.
We are seeking motivated and enthusiastic individuals to join Galway Hospice and work with the specialist palliative care teams in supporting patients with advanced diseases to attain the best quality of life possible.

Part-time G.P. with an interest in Palliative Care - Galway Hospice (initially 6 month contract)
The primary role of the G.P. is to provide palliative care as part of a multidisciplinary consultant-led team for patients with advanced malignancies and other life-limiting illnesses (initially in inpatient unit, and, when experienced, in Daycare and Community/Homecare settings) and participating in on call rota, on call from home. The aim is to maximise quality of life for patients by the provision of the highest quality symptom management and support.
Requirements for the post:
• Registration with Irish Medical Council is essential.
• Medical experience required.
• Interest in palliative care
• Palliative experience an advantage, but not essential.
• Training will be provided in position
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to establish good interpersonal relationships with other staff and disciplines and to work in a team.
• An understanding of and commitment to philosophy of palliative care and a commitment to maintaining the Mission & Values of Galway Hospice Foundation.
• Computer skills an advantage.


Full-time Registrar in Palliative Care - Galway Hospice 6 Month Fixed Term Position (January – July 2022)

The primary role of the Registrar will be to provide palliative care as part of a multidisciplinary consultant-led team for patients with advanced malignancies and other life-limiting illnesses (in inpatient unit and day care settings) and participating in 1:5 on call rota, on call from home. The aim is to maximise quality of life for patients by the provision of the highest quality symptom management and support.
Requirements for the post:
• Registration with Irish Medical Council is essential.
• Medical experience required.
• Palliative experience an advantage, but not essential.
• Training will be provided in position
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to establish good interpersonal
relationships with other staff and disciplines and to work in a team.
• An understanding of and commitment to philosophy of palliative care and a commitment to maintaining the Mission & Values of Galway Hospice Foundation.
• Computer skills an advantage.
